“Man was and is always interested to know about the happenings in space. Due to this curiosity of human beings to study things beyond his earth, many countries sent rockets and satellites to get to know the outer space. Many expeditions to space have been carried out by different countries like USSR, USA, China, Japan, and India, and European Space Agency from time to time.
The present treatise Glimpses of Space Exploration consists of thirty-six chapters dealing with unmanned and manned space flights in order to explore the space beyond the earth’s atmosphere. The dream and the quest for the great aviation are enunciated herein.
Starting from the earth’s orbit, its shape, its atmosphere launching of various satellites to the celestial space, this book sheds enough light on space observations. Further, various types of rockets like GSLV, ARIANE and Indian rockets are vividly discussed here. EDUSAT and NANOSAT form a part of this monograph, including NASA’s five significant missions, moon missions of various countries, India’s Aditya-1 mission, radiowaves from space, discovery of gravitational waves, and scramjet technology in Indian rocketry. Special attention has been given to focus on Einstein’s Universe, solar energy, meteorology and women in space science. Global positioning system and sustenance of life with light are also dealt with.
After landing on the moon, space-scientists investigate about the environmental conditions of the planetary bodies like Venus and Mars, and make serious researches on whether such conditions are suitable for living creatures. Space applications benefit for sure human race in many ways a lot to be done in the time to come.

Dr Sadasiva Biswal, born on 28 July 1945, did his MSc (Physics) from Ravenshaw College, Cuttack, and obtained PhD from Utkal University, Bhubaneswar. He has served a few Colleges of Odisha as lecturer, reader and principal. He retired from service in 2005. Afterwards he worked as Professor of Physics in Sudhananda Engineering and Research Centre, Bhubaneswar. Publications of Biswal includes seventy-four research papers, twenty-eight books, 150 research abstracts and more than 400 articles on popular science and environmental journals. He has guided 11 PhDs so far.
Presently, he is engrossed in magnetohydrodynamics, electronics, porous media studies and Vedic sciences. He has completed one minor research project sponsored by University Grants Commission. He is editorial board member of many journals like Ultra Scientist, Applied Science Periodical, Emerging Science and Current Development Reporter. Dr Biswal is also associated with many scientific societies and associations in India and abroad. He is in the Research Advisory Board of American Biographical Institute.
